Orientation for Family Members -  Freshman CUSTOMS

Sending your student off to college is a big step. It is an important time in a young person's life, a time to develop new friendships, goals, and viewpoints. CUSTOMS is an orientation program carefully designed to help make the journey into this new world informative and exciting.

photo We encourage freshman family members to be part of the student's CUSTOMS Online experience. This may prove to be a bit different this year as we offer our program in an online format.  We would like to offer you some additional support through the summer and beginning of the Fall 2020 semester. While we know we cannot replace the on-campus orientation experience, we want you to feel valued as a member of our True Blue family. We will be distributing a weekly eNewsletter that will contain information specifically geared toward incoming students and their families. This weekly email will include lots of important information and resources that we hope will help prepare you and your student for this transition to college and give you a feel of the on-campus experience.  To sign up for our weekly eNewsletter, please go to mtsu.edu/customs and click on the Join Our Weekly eNewsletter button on the homepage.

Parents have the opportunity to join the MTSU Parent Association online also. The Parent and Family Association at MTSU provides support to families of current students by sharing helpful information, serving as a point of contact, and offering memorable experiences through events such as our annual Family Weekend.

As you begin to prepare to come to campus for CUSTOMS, we want to provide you with resources that will help to make this a positive experience. Learn more about why parents should attend orientation (CUSTOMS) and how to make the most of your orientation experience.
