2021 Big Event Information
The MTSU Student Government Association and the Office of Student Organizations & Service are excited to announce the next Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity Build dates for MTSU Students. SGA will lead the effort during the annual Big Event program scheduled April 6-9, 2021.
We are looking for students to volunteer for one shift at either the Legacy Pointe subdivision or the Habitat ReStore.
How to Volunteer
Identify which date and location you wish to volunteer. We will have ONE master copy of the schedule in the MTSU SGA Office in SU 306. You may sign up by writing your name next to the date and shift. Please be confident that you can fulfill the shift you sign up for. You must be able to commit to the entire shift. Sign-ups are first come, first serve by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We encourage you to list at least 2 dates in case your first choice is already taken.
COVID Expectations & Waiver Forms
Every volunteer will need to sign the safety form and the MTSU waiver. Please bring it filled out on the day you volunteer. We also have a sign in sheet on the build for every volunteer day. It is very important that you sign in and out in order to document your volunteer hours.
- All staff and volunteers are required to wear masks on the site.
- Volunteers remain in their car until a staff member comes to them. We will take their temperature, have them sign a COVID document, give them a wrist band, a mask, and gloves.

- Volunteers must wear close-toed shoes.
- We work rain or shine.
- Bring a water bottle with you.

Be a Site Leader
The success of this event depends heavily on its leaders. In fact, strong Site Leaders ensure the success and effectiveness of the program as a whole. It is the responsibility of Site Leaders to coordinate all on-site activities, communicate and connect with the agency’s contact person, and ultimately guide the group through a day of intense and rewarding service learning and involvement.
Site Leaders will be take part in planning, connecting, and coordinating the BIG EVENT with the Philanthropic Coordinator. While preliminary plans are underway, site leaders will take a leadership role in securing specific instructions from agencies, planning transportation and organizing service opportunities.
Volunteer to Help
All students are encouraged to participate! Bring your student organization and a couple of friends and help us as we give back to the community! Volunteers may sign up as a team with their student organization, or as an individual.
